thanksgiving g g g

hello everyone (': happy thanksgiving to all the americans who follow this blog!
here is a long list of things that i'm thankful for, if you were wondering (with some pictures!)

• i am thankful for ryan reisert, my boyfriend of almost 40 months (heheheheh)

i'm also thankful for my models who do crazy things for me all da time. (all are not pictured but i love all of you and you know who you are <3)

and then i'm super thankful for the makeup artists i work with, especially cassie because she's done like 40 of my shoots for trade and gosh cassie i luv u so much (all aren't pictured, again, but you know who you are <333)

 

last but not least, i'm thankful for being really cool and having a lot of people following my photography/life/instagram/everything hehe.

i honestly cannot remember a time that luke was in men's clothing for one of my photo projects. luke is just always in a dress! this time alida, louise, luke, and i went to big rock park at NIGHT to shoot this roll. it was semi-terrifying. this car was flashing its lights at us and honking and it was scary oh well at least we didn't die (':

these photos feel really amateur to me, which i guess is okay! i never take photos for fun anymore which actually sucks and this was basically for fun (it was for photo class at school)

third weekend of november

today i had the pleasure of shooting with katrina fitzpatrick and helen mitchell in steve squall's studio~! he's really talented so you guys should go check out his work. i linked his name to his tumblr. but yeah katrina has modeled in new york and stuff and is such a natural at it, here's a photo of us today that she took on her phone, omg i look like a bug but she looks lovely.

 

the style of katrina's shoot was more modern and wintry, while helen's was more of like sparkly mother mary. haha ahhh it was such a great day, ryan came along and chilled with us and cassie lynn young did the makeup. i linked you to her website if you wanna çheck it out!!

honestly helen is such a great model. i scouted her at school and i just like saw her face and was like whaaaaat and then asked her to model. she's so good at it too! i'm doing a shoot with her and a few other people in december too. but that's kinda off topic.

tomorrow i'm shooting with karrington true @ ford chicago and i am so excited! we're shooting at this nice lake by my old preschool and i'm getting cute, kinda-modern outfits to go with it. thank you to general eccentric and acorn apparel for letting me use clothes for today's shoot, and tomorrow's shoot with karrington as well. i'm going to get off the computer now but i will update this thing when i have more pictures. goodnight everyone!

blahhhhh+

fall is almost always a really nice time of year, last year and the year before were awesome but this year it's just kind of stupid, stupid things and stupid people and people coming in and out (mostly out) of my life. i really wish i could just be content with my life for once but i guess i have this drive that i need to be this or that or whatever, i rush everything and i never slow down.

last weekend was the first weekend in months that i didn't have a single photo shoot and it was kind of nice but kind of too lazy, like i'm used to being busy and staying busy and a weekend without photos-what?

coming up this weekend i'm testing 3 girls, helen mitchell, katrina fitzpatrick, and karrington true (ford models). i'm really excited because the first two girls are going to be shot in a STUDIO on saturday, i have ideas already flowing and i hope i can execute them well. a lot of black and white and lace and tulle. ! sunday is the shoot with karrington, she's such a sweet girl and signed with ford, how cool is that?? we're shooting by the abandoned ice factory downtown and i think it'll be pretty fabulous. i want to shoot along the waterfront too, there's this nice green area with pine trees and i think it would make a nice backdrop :')

i know i have a lot of people to be grateful for- ryan, my mom, my few close friends and random strangers who take the time out of their day to write me fan mail (thank you). i just don't remember it enough. often times the good is pushed away by the bad and the bad things about photography just keep coming back!!! it's not cool!!!!!

but the number one person i have to thank for supporting me is ryan, he is the most inspirational person and i don't give myself enough time to think about him. we just kinda click! it's just this connection of art and loveliness that doesn't go away, we've been dating for almost 40 months (o...mg) and ryan's the one who really helped me jump start photography, and he's the one who tells me to keep going, tells me not to quit. i'm thankful for that. 

so i guess this is really a thank-you post for everyone who has supported me in the past 2-however-many years i've been taking photos.

this sweater consumes me

it's super cold in my house right now so i'm wearing two pairs of tights, and a huuuge sweater (and other stuff but that's not important). almost all of my clothes are secondhand (from goodwill or other thrift shops) and goodwill always has $3 sweaters around fall and winter! every year that fact makes me super excited because i'm such a sucker for sweater weather. sometimes in the winter when it's super cold i'll even put on two sweaters for extra warmth (':

i actually need to go thrifting right now, i found this new place called st. vincent depaul, it's a thrift store, and i walked past it when i was on my way to my internship the other day. i saw these 2 gorgeous dresses (probably vintage) and i really wanted to go in and buy them but i was already late (punctuality is key) so i skipped out on them. hopefully something better will be there when i actually do go in there.

yesterday i was organizing my closet for photo shoots and i got really......excited.....for my shoots but i realized that most of them are 3-4 weeks away! i kind of just sat there in my closet for a second and took that fact in. *breathe* gotta live in the present right?!

hi i guess

today i was about to fall asleep with my cat (after school nap-much needed) and i said outloud "i'm so tired...and inspired!" so that's how i found my blog title. i've never ever been good at titling things so i'm very happy with myself!

today i was looking at daylessday's flickr stream and was completely in awe. i've seen his work before, but coming back to it now made me even more thrilled. you know that feeling when you come back to something after a while of not looking at it. i particularly liked these photos:

i guess i just really like this girl's face, and it really popped out in my recent uploads on flickr today. i love the filmy wintery tones in his photos and they just pull me into this other world, where everything is okay and elliott smith is still living (moment of silence please)

i've been anticipating winter for so long now, actually since the spring when everything turned green and slimy and i didn't like it. last winter was so good, even though my work was not where i wanted it to be and i struggled a lot. i still do struggle, but in a different way. this fall has just seemed too sunny, sun depresses me and i need cloudy weather sometimes. i don't know.

i just narrow it down to this: when i'm walking in the summer, i'm hot and tired and the sun is in my eyes and i mostly want to sleep. no one is around and summer is lonely for me. when i'm walking in the winter, everything seems so crisp and clean and especially when the sun has gone down or it's just a cloudy day, everything seems so beautiful and i can relate to so many happy times. i walk almost everywhere because i don't have a car, i crashed it as of august 5th 2011 and i've been fine without it. cars are scary anyways. and on that note, i am off to go to bed. i have to get up to go to school tomorrow which is annoying, thankyou for reading my first post!
